Review collection needs to be done right

When it comes to ranking on Google Maps, review consistency and recency matter more than volume.

That means that you can beat companies that have thousands of reviews, but got lazy in the recent months.

Now we know that review collection is an operationally heavy process. You have to train your techs with the right SOPs for review collection.

This is where we share the responsibility with you.

Our clients get a full SOP for on-site review collection: the same one used by 8-figure contractors I've worked with.

And then we handle any reviews that were missed on-site. Our core KPI is review collection rate, which is:

Review collection rate =

This gets you a steady, consistent stream of reviews each month, which is key to growing and maintaining your map rankings

Review collection sounds simple, but it isn't

  • Your techs don't follow through with review collection
  • Customers say they'll leave a review, then never do
  • Automated text from review software, or copy / paste messages gets ignored
  • Your team isn't consistent with review collection
  • Review collection is operationally heavy, and you don't have the time to manage it daily

Hear from other business owners

"We do solid work, customers tell us all the time how happy they are. But Google reviews? Maybe 1 out of every 20 customers actually leaves one."
HVAC contractor, on Reddit
"Every single time, its the exact same thing: "Oh yeah, totally, ill do that tonight!" And then...nada."
Home service business owner, on Reddit
"No matter how many times I do it, I always feel awkward asking for reviews at the end of a job. You just spent 6 hours sweating in someone's crawlspace and now you're supposed to pitch them on going to Google?"

"It is possibly the single most frustrating part of my entire business."

How our Review Velocity Engine works

  1. 01

    Send us your customer list

That's your past customers, plus every new job from here on. An export from your job software is fine, and so is a spreadsheet.

There's no software for you to learn or log in to. Our team does the work.

  2. 02

    Drip review collection

Like I said, review consistency and recency matter more than volume (velocity).

We pace outreach, and we reach out to both your past and most recent customers.

  3. 03

A real person types every message

Every text comes from a real person on our team.

This is our secret. People can tell when a text is automated or if it comes from AI. Highly personalized, human written messages drive higher review collection rates

  4. 04 (Bonus)

    Catch unsatisfied customers early

Any unresolved issues found by our Review Velocity Engine go straight to your team for follow-ups.

Our review collection is compliant with Google's policy

Google is strict about how you ask for reviews. In 2024 it blocked or removed over 240 million reviews that broke its review collection policy

We follow the two rules that matter most, to ensure we do not impact your GBP negatively.

No review gating

Review gating is in direct violation of Google's policy, and you risk getting your GBP suspended.

No incentives

Offering incentives for review is in direct violation of Google's policy, and you risk getting your GBP suspended.

Our Approach vs Generic Review Automation Software

Frequently asked questions

01How many reviews should I expect?

On average, 1 out of 5 (~20%) of the customers we talk to leave a review

02Can you connect directly with our CRM?

We can connect directly with Housecall Pro, Jobber, and other CRMs with API access. ServiceTitan integration is not available today.

03How often do you text my customers?

By default we will only ask your customers once, with no follow-ups. This lowers review collection rates, but minimizes the risk you get a negative review instead.

If your priority is to maximize reviews, we have the option to follow up once or twice after the initial message.

04What about customers who already left a review?

We'll look at who has already reviewed your business, and we will not text them.

05Can you keep bad reviews off Google?

No, and be careful of anyone who says they can. Blocking or filtering reviews is against Google's policy.

06Will this get my profile flagged?

We make sure that our review collection process follows Google's policy.

We do not Review Gate, nor do we offer incentives for leaving a review.

07Will it annoy my customers?

We have a proven script that minimizes the chances of that.

08Does this mean my technicians no longer have to collect reviews on-site?

Review collection success rate is highest right after the job is completed, so we still recommend your technicians collect reviews.

We give our clients detailed SOPs on best practices to maximize review collection on-site. Our review velocity engine is NOT meant to replace on-site review collection entirely

09What does it cost?

Review collection is part of our Local SEO package. Our Local SEO package starts at $1,595, and may vary depending on the size of your business, scope of SEO, and how many GBP profiles you have.
